SUMMARY:The Last Straw Fall Event
DESCRIPTION:Bring the whole family and experience bales of fun at the Gregg House Museum. Most activities are FREE! \n\nmake a scarecrow (nominal fee) (please put bulleted list in 2 columns)\nmeet a bee keeper\nsee an awesome animal show\nlearn about chickens and cows\npan for gold or minerals (nominal fee)\ncreate some cool crafts\, make rope\nplay some fun games\nTreat yourself to some home-made goodies at the bake sale\npumpkin decorating (sponsored by Westmont Chamber of Commerce)\n\nFor an $8 fee per family\, The Garden Club of Downers Grove will help you make a great scarecrow for your yard. Fee includes pillow case for the head\, straw\, a wood stand\, hay and some materials.  Please bring clothes (pants\, shirt) and any unique items you’d like to use to decorate your scarecrow. Items should be environmentally friendly (no perishable goods) and weather resistant.  We have extra clothes on hand to share. Event will be held rain or shine!

DESCRIPTION:Illinois is famous for a lot of things including deep dish pizza. But there are some awesome things we use every day that most of us have no idea originated in Illinois. Meet Terry Lynch\, professional actor and storyteller. Portraying an early newspaper hawker\, he will give you the” inside scoop” on our Land of Lincoln legends and their inventions.  Hear about inventors Marvin Camras\, tape recorder; Laurens Hammond\, electronic keyboard; Levant Richardson\, ball bearing roller skates; Charles Pajeau\, tinker toys; Ives McGaffrey\, vacuum cleaner\, and Whitcomb Judson\, zipper\, to name a few. The best part of all is that kids can be an inventor after the presentation. (reccommended for children grades K-4) We will supply materials; you put on your creative thinking caps and create something awesome! SUMMARY:Haunted Forest Tour
DESCRIPTION:Diane Main Park will come alive for one very magical\, mystical night!  Participants will walk for the first part of the tour\, then hop on a wagon for the second part of the adventure.  Don’t turn your back as ghouls\, ghosts and creatures will come alive before your very eyes!   We will again offer a Merry Monsters Matinee from 5:00-6:30PM for those younger children who’d prefer to experience the event while it’s still light out. \nTICKET SALES END PROMPTLY AT 9:00PM. \n-participants 3 years and older will need to purchase a ticket \n-tickets are purchased at Diane Main Park on the day of the event.  $6/person \n-tours are ongoing\, so you may arrive at any time \n-due to the popularity of the event\, there may be a wait…we provide entertainment while you’re waiting! \n-parking is along 59th St.\, at the Twin Lakes Golf Club and at the Twin Lakes Learning Center
