DESCRIPTION:You probably know Abraham Lincoln lived part of his life in Illinois\, but did you know that Walt Disney\, Betty Freidan and Charles Walgreen also called the Prairie State home?  Join historian Leslie Goddard\, Ph.D. for this illustrated lecture commemorating the state’s 2018 bicentennial.  We’ll look at ten intriguing people from Illinois\, including heads of state\, newsmakers\, inventors\, and others.  They are all from Illinois\, and they all changed the world! DESCRIPTION:Westmont Rotary has donated over $60\,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors in just the last 10 years and by participating in this run\, you can help them donate even more!  Join family and friends for the Rotary Club Holly Days 5k through the streets of Westmont on Saturday\, November 24.  The race begins at 9:00am on Burlington Avenue in downtown Westmont. Participants may pre-register for this event online at www.westmontrotaryclub.org.  Pre-registration will be accepted until November 19. Race day registration fees are $10 more than those listed below. This is a local charity event benefiting the community. \nRace day registration takes place from 8:00-8:45am. Please check website for details. \nThe first two hundred registered runners will receive a Rotary Club 5k t-shirt!  Awards and refreshments will be given out at the completion of the race. All ages and fitness levels are welcome to participate.

DESCRIPTION:Bring your family\, friends and neighbors to help ring in the holiday season at Westmont’s annual Holly Days Festival!  Santa’s reindeer and elves arrive on the Westmont Centre lawn at 3:45pm and will be available for pictures until 6:45pm.  Live musical entertainment is located inside the Westmont Centre beginning at 5:30pm.  The Frosty & Friends Parade begins its march down Cass Ave. at 5:00pm and concludes with Santa’s arrival and the lighting of the Village of Westmont tree! \nChildren of all ages can visit with Santa after the lighting of the tree for pictures\, cookies and hot chocolate.  Don’t forget to visit our downtown businesses that will be offering warm beverages and treats during the parade!
