Halloween Events

AUTUMN-BANNER

Westmont Park District hosts a variety of fall events each year, including the Last Straw Fall Event, the Haunted Forest Tour, and the Halloween Fun Fair.

last strawBring the whole family and experience bales of fun at the Gregg House Museum. Most activities are FREE!

• make a scarecrow (nominal fee)
• decorate a pumpkin (sponsored by Westmont Chamber of Commerce)
• pan for gold or minerals (nominal fee)
• create cool crafts, make rope
• learn about life in the past
• play old-fashioned games
• Treat yourself to some home-made goodies at the bake sale
• take a hay ride
• Enjoy some music

The Garden Club of Downers Grove will help you make a great scarecrow for your yard. An $8 fee includes a pillow case for the head, straw, a wood stand, hay and various materials. Please bring clothes (pants, shirt) and any unique items you’d like to use to decorate your scarecrow. Items should be environmentally friendly (no perishable goods) and weather resistant. We have extra clothes on hand to share.


Flotilla

FREE! Bring the whole family and celebrate spirit of Halloween at Diane Main Park. Enjoy carving your own pumpkin and listening to spooky stories while watching the Pumpkin Flotilla, which sets sail into Twin Lakes at twilight. Bring some blankets to sit and listen to the spooky stories and watch the Pumpkin Flotilla.

Sandra Smith Woods will come alive for one very magical, mystical night! Participants will hop on a wagon ride that takes them from Diane Main Park through the terrifying woods path scenes. After that, participants will get off the wagons and walk through the wicked woods where all kind of scares await them. Don’t turn your back, as characters, ghouls and creatures will come alive before your very eyes!

$6 ticket fee.


ghost stories

Legend has it that on certain nights in Smith Woods you can see the ghosts of years past wondering through the trees looking for their final resting places. For those who like a good scare and think they are brave enough, we are going to have a fire pit, tell scary ghost stories, and enjoy some snacks.

$20/Resident, $30/Non-resident


Spooktacular fun night

Ages: children ages 2-10

The whole family is invited to a safe and fun-filled evening as you trick or treat through the Community Center with us! Show off your costumes to earn a prize, enjoy some goodies, and create a spooky craft along the way. A variety of spooktacular activities will make your evening fang-tastic!
